Luxury Glamping In The Peak District, A Peak Pods Review

Glamping is the new camping? We sure think so!

Myself and Marie-Claire had never been glamping before and weren't quite sure what to expect from our 3-night stay with Peak Pods. In the review, we're going to be sharing our thoughts and top tips on this memorable get-away.

Upon arriving at the pod, we were impressed at how pristine and spacious the room was. Everything had been thoroughly cleaned which made the pod feel more homely. To further top the warm welcome, our host had left us some small gifts which included coffee, milk and two cookies. We were surprised at how spacious the pod was with plenty of room for two or four people to move around easily.

What’s Inside the Pod?

Inside the kitchen, you will find a fridge, induction hob, toaster and kettle along with pots, pans and cutlery, so no need to pack these items.

Each pod sleeps up to four people and the main bed was extremely comfortable. There was a heater, but we never had to use it due it being well-insulated inside.

All over the pod you will find multiple electrical sockets, so you can charge your phone or camera after a day of walking. Another great feature which we loved was the Bluetooth speakers built into the ceiling.

The bathroom comes with a heated shower, toilet and washbasin. Although there isn't much room inside the bathroom, it's not really that much of an issue.

Things to do

The closest town, Youlgreave, is a 30 minute walk away. There you will find a few local shops and two pubs. The Bulls Head was our favourite pub where we had a steak and ale pie on the first night.

The surrounding area is exactly what you would expect from the Peaks. There are plenty of amazing local walks you can do without a car. On our first day, we walked to Robin Hood's Stride; a small rocky outcrop about 1.5 miles from the pod. It's a great vantage point to get a 360 view of the peaks from above. Another landmark close by is the Nine Ladies Stone Circle, which dates back to the Bronze age.

On our second day, we walked from the pod to Bakewell, a quaint town famous for its Bakewell pudding, which you have to try!

Our Conclusion

Overall, we loved everything about this trip. It felt like every small detail had been considered to ensure the most pleasurable stay possible. We both would highly recommend Peak Pods to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway in the Peak District.

The only things to keep in mind are:

  • No dogs are allowed

  • Check-in is after 4pm and checkout is at 10am

  • No smoking on site (we don't smoke)

  • There is a car park right by the pods

Hope this review helps, and if you do decide to go, have an amazing trip!
